embarrassing parts of books are a million times worse than embarrassing parts of movies i’ve decided because you can’t look away or cover your face until it’s over you have no choice but to pay attention and endure that secondhand embarrassment with them

The Anne Frank wax figurine now on display at Madame Tussaud’s Museum. In addition to the figure, her room has partially rebuilt in the museum, and you can hears noises outside her window if you listen close, noises ranging from planes and shouts to birds and gentle talking. A truly remarkable figurine, as normally the artists work with live people whom they can get accurate measurements on. With Anne, the artists only had photos, but she turns out so real looking you can’t help but smile back at her.

Matilda walked the ten blocks to the library and devoured one book after another. When she finished all the children’s books she started wondering around in search of something else. So, Matilda’s strong young mind continued to grow; nurtured by all those authors who’d sent their books out into the world. Like ships onto the sea. These books gave Matilda a hopeful and comforting message “you are not alone.”
